Today is my first day with students in the Tech classroom.  I know students will be excited to get their hands on the iPads and new Toshiba laptops, but before we dive into using technology, we will be covering a very important topic.  That topic is Digital Citizenship.  In this digital age for children, it is important to discuss and remind them to protect private information, respect themselves and others, stay safe online, stand up to cyberbullying, and also balance the time spent online and using technology and digital media.  These topics are important not only at school, but at home too.

I found a web site with so many wonderful resources for parents, students, and educators.  Check out Common Sense Media.  They rate, educate, and advocate for kids, families, and schools.  There are a wealth of resources for all sorts of topics.

I hope to use this blog to display student work from my Technology classroom.  This will be a great way for parents and others to see the exciting projects being created by students.  I also hope to post about apps, web sites, and other related-technology in the classroom.

Here is a video that students will be viewing in class today: Be a Digital Citizen
